Abstract

The article is dedicated to french barbarisms in the english language because there is an active use of french words in the speech of the english and the works of english writers. it was found out that in the english vocabulary there is a significant number of words of french origin that entered the vocabulary without any changes. collins' etymological dictionary served as the material for this study. after analyzing the collins’ etymological dictionary 171words and word combinations from the french language were found that have retained their original appearance and are used in the english language without any changes.
